A couple of reminders of how the gadgets you already have can be pressed to use to do all sorts of interesting things.
I was reading about the Alesis Protrack recorder which turns your ipod or nano into a professional recording device - researchers please note.. though by the time you've spent the money on the Alesis there's not a lot of difference between just going out and buying a good digital audio recorder. But I will say this the Alesis does allow you to attach XLR microphones to it. And has a much better microphone than the ipod boasts. It records full audio ie not mp3 - Apple control freakery again. So files will be quite large.
