I've been wondering about the right time to move to a digital SLR to significantly up the quality of the images I take. I have a Pentax SLR I haven't used for years and like the idea of being able to reuse the lenses. SLRs do all sorts of clever things now. One of which is HD movies. Here is a film shot at night - something SLRs would always struggle with. And this has been filmed entirely on a Pentax K7. The beauty of film making with an SLR is the ability to control depth of field and to be able to use very different lenses to move away from that flat video look. Of course the main benefit is still images but I am impressed by how much an SLR could add to the film making process. Last time I spoke to John Grant he was making films with a digital SLR. Enjoy Uncle Jack!
and here's the film of how they made Uncle Jack
